Roger Wilson is a former University Lecturer, School Teacher and Youth Worker with over thirty years' experience working with learners in formal and non-formal settings. Roger has worked in schools teaching bilingually across the Key Stages from Foundation Phase to GCSE including Pupil Referral Units and looked after children in secure care settings.
Roger lectured at Aberystwyth University in Primary Education, specialising in the Foundation Phase and mathematics. In April 2010 Roger was appointed to a three year 0.4 contract as External Subject Expert for Primary Mathematics to the Welsh Government where he coached and mentored teachers across Wales in quality pedagogy through higher order thinking skills and assessment for learning strategies. Roger has also worked at University of Wales Trinity Saint David Carmarthen as Associate Tutor Reach the Heights Project delivering youth and community skills related courses at locations throughout Wales. He has also worked in Trinity as a sessional Lecturer and Module Coordinator delivering courses in Professional Education Studies.
In April 2010, he was appointed as External Subject Expert to the British Council on a rolling contract undertaking assessment of funding applications and providing advice for projects under Youth in Action and Comenius School Partnerships which is now Erasmus+.
Since 2010 on a freelance basis Roger led a team who worked on a Foundation Phase Project for the Welsh Government to review and evaluate child-initiated and adult-led learning in the use of the outdoors. He also worked as a Project Partner with TLC researching and preparing case studies for the Bridgend Outdoor Schools Project.
Roger now offers a wide range of support services for learners that raise their functional Numeracy, Literacy and Life Skills through engaging them in projects that remove the traditional barriers to learning and that meet their needs. Roger continues to work in schools delivering STEM workshops, training in Outdoor Education and as an independent consultant in the fields of Education and Youth.
