Connecting Classrooms through Global Learning works with schools around the world to help young people develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes to thrive today and tomorrow.
This course is available at two levels, 2 and 3.
The Level 2 course aims to:
Explore the Sustainable Development Goals to select most relevant context(s) for own learners for Global Learning lesson plans.
Enable clarification of active citizenship skills and core skills required to access chosen context of global learning.
Develop ideas around Donaldson’s 12 pedagogical principles.
Develop cross-curricular classroom activities, e.g. STEM, humanities etc. using pedagogical principles on chosen DEGL theme and trial.
The Level 3 course aims to:
Explore the Sustainable Development Goals to select most relevant context(s) for Global Learning curriculum plans.
Challenge and so critically analyse own assumptions of chosen Sustainable Development Goals.
Develop ideas and strategies to improve learners’ skills and understanding of global context(s), including attitudes and values.
Explore conflict and its resolution in school, in Wales and globally.
Learners develop own social action project within curriculum plan.
Teachers and learners reflect on own progress to set ‘next steps’ for improvement.
The training is available to groups, clusters or whole-schools online or as socially distanced face-to-face twilight, half-day or full day sessions in school.
Here are the training options available:
Level 2 (6 hours)
- 2 x 3-hour twilight sessions (in school face-to-face)
- 3 x 2-hour twilight sessions (in school face-to-face)
- full day whole school (in school face-to-face)
- 2 x 2-hour plus mentoring (online).
Level 3 (12 hours)
- 2 x full day whole school (in school)
- 4 x 2-hour plus mentoring (online).
